The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum1 is a military and maritime history museum with a collection of museum ships. It is located at Pier 86 at 46th Street on the West Side of Manhattan. The museum showcases the World War II aircraft carrier USS Intrepid, the submarine USS Growler, a Concorde SST and a Lockheed A-12 supersonic reconnaissance plane. Additionally on April 12, 2011, the museum was awarded the Space Shuttle Enterprise. The museum serves as a hub for the annual Fleet Week events. Visiting warships dock at the cruise ship terminals to the north, and events are held on the museum grounds and the deck of the Intrepid.
Machine 8 is across the walkway from the entrance to the Concorde.
Machine 9 is at the entrance to the gift shop; you’ll see it to your left as you enter the plaza after paying the entrance fee.
Machine 10 is on the right-side wall at the entrance to the exploratorium.
Machine 11 is in the food court on the right side of the room as you enter.
The token machine is also at the exit to the gift shop, 2 different designs.
There are online “buy one get one free” ticket admissions that are well worth the 5 hours we spent there!
Machines 1 to 7 are retired.
Hurricane Sandy did quite a bit of damage to the Gift shop and they only had a temporary gift shop set up under a tent. Could not locate machine 9 or the token machine. However the Enterprise gift shop has a token for sale (Golden color – Space Shuttle Enterprise on one side and Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum logo on the other side) and the cost is $10.00.
7/2/14: Man at Museum said that Machine 9 was washed away due to 6 foot high waters flooding the gift shop caused by Hurricane Sandy.
